Woodstork Colony (Jax Zoo)  - April 23, 2006
These pictures were all taken on April 23, 2006 at the Jacksonville Zoo Wood Stork Colony.

The colony is very noisy now with the sounds of baby chicks. There are 41 nests with chicks visible in them, and many more new hatchlings that can be heard but not seen.

Today's count:

  • Tree A: 48 Nests (20 with chicks visible; 47 chicks total)
  • Tree B: 51 Nests (20 with chicks visible; 44 chicks total)
  • Tree C: 8 Nests
  • Tree D: 2 Nests, 1 chick
  • Tree E: 1 Nest
