Woodstork Colony (Jax Zoo)  - March 18, 2006
These pictures were all taken on March 18, 2006 at the Jacksonville Zoo Wood Stork Colony. Still no hatchlings, but many storks are sitting in the nests 'incubating', while others are still actively building nests of their own.

Today we also guided a small group from Seminole (FL) Audubon through the rookery. A picture of the group is at the bottom of the page.

Some storks are already 'incubating' on their nests. (Tree A)

Settling in - trying to find a good spot? (Tree A)

The storks feed (a little) and bathe in the pond beneath the colony.

This wood stork is braving the zoo's resident Bald Eagle (there are two eagles that can't be released back into the wild), attempting to steal food.
