Vaill Point Park - St. Augustine, FL

Trip Summary & Journal Entry

Trip Report:

"Several participants joined us at the new (under construction) park at the end of Vaill Point Road. Billy Zeits, our trip leader, took us on a leisurely stroll through the paved trails and we identified plants and birds. The day started on the windy side, but we still managed to get an impressive list of birds for the park's first birding trip. One of the trails leads to a boardwalk, where we were able to get impressive views of Moultrie creek area, plus a sideways view of the bald eagles at nest. Afterwards, we traveled to Shore Blvd to get better looks at the eagles. We observed an adult pair busy at their nest site. Two of us went back to the park afterwards and found a few warblers traveling through the area. We also found an Eastern box turtle. This park is in a wonderful location and we hope to revisit it.".....Diane Reed, October 31st, 2006
